HDPE Geomembrane Liner Supply and Installation
When a project needs a liner that holds, whether it is a dugout storing tens of thousands of litres of water or a secondary containment berm on an active oil lease, HDPE geomembrane liner is the material most engineers and operators reach for first.
What Is an HDPE Geomembrane Liner?
HDPE stands for high-density polyethylene. It is a thick, flexible plastic sheet manufactured to create an impermeable barrier between a liquid or contaminant and the ground beneath it.
Geomembrane liners are used anywhere you need to contain, direct, or isolate a liquid: fuel, water, chemicals, agricultural runoff, or wastewater. HDPE is one of several polyethylene liner options we supply, chosen for its higher specific strength, UV and chemical resistance, and ability to withstand higher temperatures, which is why it is used for containment projects around the world.
It comes in a range of thicknesses, selected to suit the demands of each application.
Where We Install HDPE Geomembrane Liners
The Containment Answer supplies and installs HDPE geomembrane liners for large-scale commercial and industrial projects across Western Canada and the Western US. We do not do backyard ponds. We do the jobs where getting the liner wrong costs far more than the liner itself.
Oil & Gas
Secondary containment is a regulatory requirement for most oil and gas operations in Alberta and across Western Canada. HDPE geomembrane liner is a standard solution for containment berms, tank farm liners, and secondary containment systems built to meet AER and EPEA requirements. We work directly with operators and contractors to spec and install liner systems that satisfy compliance and hold up to field conditions.
Agriculture
Dugout liners, irrigation ponds, wastewater storage, and fertilizer containment. HDPE is a strong choice for agricultural applications that need a liner lasting decades without constant maintenance. A properly installed liner stops water loss, prevents ground contamination, and protects the water source itself. See our approach to pond liner installation across the prairies, where water storage is critical infrastructure, not an afterthought.
Industrial
Stormwater retention ponds, chemical containment, and industrial wastewater. Anywhere what is in the pond cannot touch the ground beneath it, HDPE handles chemical exposure that would break down lesser materials, making it a standard choice for industrial containment.
Why HDPE Over Other Liner Materials?
There are cheaper options. RPE, PVC, and EPDM liners all have their place. For large-scale, long-term installations, HDPE wins on most measures.
- Strong resistance to punctures and UV degradation
- Handles a wide range of chemical exposures
- Seams are heat-welded, not glued, so they are as strong as the liner itself
- Proven across oil and gas, mining, and agriculture for decades
- Performs in extreme cold, critical for prairie and mountain sites
- Available in a range of thicknesses for any application requirement
For projects where the liner is a long-term asset, not a temporary fix, HDPE holds up.
Supply and Installation, Not Just One or the Other
We supply the liner and we install it. That matters, because a geomembrane liner is only as good as the installation behind it. Poor anchoring, weak seams, or liner placed on an unprepared substrate will fail no matter the material.
Our team handles the full scope: from project planning and liner specification to delivery and installation. Large-scale projects on remote or difficult-access sites across Western Canada and the Western US are what we are built for.
- Site assessment and liner specification
- Material supply direct to site
- Panel fabrication and field welding
- Air-pressure seam testing
- Anchor trench installation
- Project management from concept to completion
